Yoga For Beginners

So many people find amazing and sometimes surprising results from yoga when they begin to practice with a qualified instructor, who is sensitive to the needs of a beginner.

Really, everyone is a beginner.
¤ If you haven't had a regular yoga practice before,
      you are a beginner.
¤ If you are exploring a new instructor or style of yoga,
      you are a beginner.
¤ If you think there is a possibility your body could feel a little
(or a lot) better than it currently does, you are a beginner.
¤ If you are about to embark on a new extreme physical challenge
(you are pregnant, recovering from an injury, plan to lose weight
or taking on a competitive sports challenge),
      you are a beginner.
¤ You are exceptionally athletic & want to see your body perform
to its highest potential, you are a beginner.

If you have previously advanced in a style of yoga & regularly practiced advanced postures, give yourself permission to return yourself to the beginner mind and experience the joys of learning yoga and yourself again.

"The idea of being able to have a Yoga instructor come to you is terrific. However, the fact that Debbie can design a class to meet your needs is even more important to me. After taking several other classes, I found that either they were taught at a level which my 50-something body couldn't tolerate, or so basic that I questioned whether there was any benefit to taking them. Debbie seemed to be able to adjust the class to what was needed. That made all the difference. I look forward to many more sessions with Yoga Where You Are!"

"Thank You, Debbie. For your wonderful teaching style. For inviting us into your home and providing the opportunity to learn the benefits of yoga. You are truly a gifted and caring instructor who has made everyone feel welcome, calm, and serene. You have challenged us to continually improve our practice without feeling self conscious or uncomfortable. It has been a true pleasure to learn from you."

Changing Like the Weather

The first noble truth says simply that it's part of being human to feel discomfort. We don't even have to call it suffering anymore; we don't even have to call it discomfort.

It's simply coming to know the fieriness of fire, the wildness of wind, the turbulence of water, the upheaval of earth, as well as the warmth of fire, the coolness and smoothness of water, the gentleness of the breezes, and the goodness, solidness, and dependability of the earth. Nothing in its essence is one way or the other.

The four elements take on different qualities; they're like magicians. Sometimes they manifest in one form and sometimes in another...

The first noble truth recognizes that we also change like the weather, we ebb and flow like the tides, we wax and wane like the moon."
